Moving can seem like a very daunting task. There are so many little details to iron out between house hunting, switching addresses, hiring movers, let alone the actual packing and moving itself. Moving can easily become overwhelming, no matter how big or small your home is. Each room takes time, and you have to be prepared to get everything moved efficiently and quickly. Bathrooms are often the most overlooked, being small and usually not as high on the priority list as kitchens or bedrooms.

Here is are some pro tips on how to organize your bathroom for a move!

Keep or Toss? Go through all of your perfumes, lotions, shampoos, and toiletries you may be hoarding in your bathroom. If you don’t use it on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis, toss it into the trash. Read all the labels on your medications and toss anything that is expired. The aim of this keep-or-toss exercise is to prioritize what you will actually need again after the move. Also, make sure to empty out and recycle any bottles and separate lotions and shampoos from your belongings to avoid spilling.

Organized Bathroom Drawer

Bin It Away: The easiest and most effective way to keep your bathroom clean and organized is to have bins and containers. Sort out the cluster of toiletries found in your drawers and underneath the sink, and organize them neatly in the bins. By the time you need to move, you will have everything packed up and ready to go. Also, check out our essential packing and moving supplies.

Overnight Bag: The night before or the morning of a move, you are most likely to take a shower. So, don’t store away all of your toiletries and towels just yet! Prep an “overnight bag” with everything you need, so you won’t go scurrying through your packed boxes. Make sure to have extra ziplock bags for your shampoos and lotions.

Pay It Forward: Before you are about to move, give the bathroom a deep clean. Nobody wants to move into a new house and find the bathroom to be dirty from the previous owners. Cleaning can also help you find misplaced things that you wouldn’t have been able to find.

These are important things that will help make your move easier. Organizing and cleaning is time consuming but in the end, it will make your packing less stressful and make your to-do list a little shorter.
